Welcome to the Heritage Port Stanley website

Willow Beach

None of the cottages shown in this postcard can be recognized today.   The date of the postmark is 1912, and the long dresses on the ladies certainly support a pre World War I date for the photograph.

There appears to be a fence at the far end of the street, and another house behind the fence, which might suggest that this view is looking North on Bessie Street.

In the early years of the last century, the area between William Street and Kettle Creek was known as Willow Beach.   Bessie Street was named after the daughter of Manuel Payne, a prominent Port Stanley citizen at the time.
