Port Stanley's First Church Anglican Church: Looking at the empty land around Port Stanley's Anglican Church, it is clear from this postcard, which has no postmark, that the church was situated on the northern outskirts of Port Stanley. The church was built in 1845 on land which had been donated earlier by John Bostwick. It would be unkind to suggest that Bostwick may have chosen this location because he felt that this land was less valuable than land nearer the lake. Perhaps he chose this location so that the church would be closer to the location of the thriving little town of Selborne which was a block or two to the north of this location. |
