The date on this postcard is 1911, and by that date several large homes and summer cottages already existed on Erie Rest, the area west of the village beyond Fraser Heights. Much of the property was originally owned by John Mitchell who felt it was not suitable as farm land and divided it into cottage lots. The area to the west of that is known as Mitchell Heights.
